2009 Midwest Slope Challenge Registration

Current AMA membership required to fly during the event May 14th - 17th, 2009 at Wilson Lake Reservoir, Kansas.  Please no exceptions.  This event is AMA sanctioned and permitted by the local Army Corp of   Engineers. 

From Thursday through Sunday frequency control will be in effect at Wilson Lake.  Please help avoid shoot-downs by finding and using the frequency board.

We have special permission for vehicle access to the "airport hill" for Thursday - Sunday.  Please obtain permission from a ranger if you want to drive to airport hill  other  than those days.  Without permission, the Corp does not permit vehicles off of the road surfaces, except in designated parking areas.   Help us keep a good relationship with the Corp.

Registration is limited to one assigned frequency per event, except on 2.4 GHz,  so there are no frequency conflicts during the events.  This  simplifies the contest and allows fly-offs and changes in rounds with no frequency conflicts.  During open flying frequency control is by means of the frequency control board.

Please help us by respecting this and encouraging others to do so.

Pre-registration
 Pre-registration is for pilots who were assigned frequencies in 2008 who want to request the same frequency for 2009.  Pre-registration will open  Feb. 1, 2009 and must be received by Darla Blevins on or before Feb. 21, 2009 (no exceptions).  If you can be flexible, please don't lock up the frequency but if you have buried receivers or static transmitters and you would like the same assigned frequency this is for you. This is to encourage  pilots who come year after year to build on non-conflicting channels.  As entries are received Darla will assign  pre-registered pilots/assigned frequencies and publish a list on this page each  Monday beginning Feb. 9, 2009.

General registration
For those not pre-registering, general registration begins Feb. 22, 2009.  No general registrations will be accepted with post marks prior to Feb. 22, 2009.  General registration frequencies will be assigned on a first-come first serve basis by post-mark beginning Feb. 22, 2009.  Again, if you can be flexible on your channel, please state so on the registration form so we can allow pilots with less flexibility the chance to register.  

Is this clear as mud?     Simply, if you flew last year and want your same frequency and get your registration to Darla by Feb. 21, 2009  you will be assigned the same frequency.   Darla  will put together the list of the pre-registered pilots/frequencies and we will publish the list  here each Monday beginning Feb. 9, 2009.  Then, beginning Feb. 22, 2009, all remaining frequencies will be assigned on a first-come first-serve basis by postmark on or after Feb.22, 2009. No general registrations will be accepted with postmarks prior to Feb.22.2009.

Fees  -  The registration fee has been raised to $15.00 but event  fees remain the same as last year.  Please register for the Warbird event if you are interested, but there is no event  fee.  As always  since the ODR and Unlimited racing classes and Combat class take priority we are not always able to run the Warbird.  We will run it (if possible) and award trophies like the other events but we have dropped  the event fee.

 The traditional prime-rib feast banquet  and award ceremony will be at  the Lucas Methodist Church  on Saturday May 16. 2009.  The cost is $20 per person.   T-shirts will be available if you would like to pre-order on the registration form at a cost of $12 per shirt. We may or may not have extra  T-shirts available at the event.  Pre-order if you want to be sure you get one. .

What else?  The Basic Entry will be $15.00 ($20.00 after May 1, 2009).  No refunds after May 1st if you do not cancel by that date.  Come and have some fun.   There will be door prizes at the banquet.  We would like to have an auction if there is enough interest shown.   The on-site registration will be at Alden's from 7 PM-10 PM  on Thursday May 14th..
