Midwest Slope Challenge Fun Flying
Yes, fun
flying is now an "event". There was once a time when MWSC was a small,
self-contained fun contest. And despite significant growth, it's still
fun! One of the reasons it's stayed that way is we keep a 50/50 balance
between competitive events and open flying. So here are some guidelines
that will keep it fun for all of us:
-
Frequency
control is in effect at all times. Go find the frequency board, there's
one somewhere Wednesday through Sunday.
-
AMA
membership is required for all participants, whether they are entered
in competition or not. You have to check in or show your card to the CD
to prove the point.
-
No
flying off the dam at Wilson due to changes in regulations by the Kansas
Department of Transportation.
-
No
transmitters will be operating within 3 miles of where ever the
predominant group is flying. If you're doing your own thing, go far,
far away.
-
We
will allocate fun flying time between "open to all" and "no-foamies".
Those who treasure their breakable planes have spoken! Plus it's more
fun to watch two glass planes collide instead of just one.
-
Open
flying happens when the CD says it happens, not when there's an
apparent lull between races. The slope will be restricted to racing
entrants before and between race events on days we run
ODR, Unlimited, and Warbird Races.
